About this event
Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in Boulder
Who's playing
The music comes from a string quartet, the Range Ensemble from Denver. They play classical arrangements of rock and pop songs. The program includes Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Don't Stop Me Now" and "We Will Rock You." It also has ABBA's "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo" and "Mamma Mia."
What to expect
The concert runs about an hour. Candles are the only light in the room. It is a listening show, and the songs are played on strings alone. The church has Gothic Revival stonework, stained glass and a bell tower. Light snacks and drinks are sold at a bar.
Why go
Queen and ABBA are songs most people already know by heart, and strings give them a new sound. St. John's has stood in Boulder since 1873. It is an atmospheric place to hear them, and it is a good fit for a date or a night out with friends who like familiar music.
