TinkerMill Presents: Pottery Captains Take Flight! An Adventure at the NCECA 2026 Ceramics Conference
Thursday, October 29 at TinkerMill, Boulder
About this event
Three of TinkerMill's Pottery Shop Captains visited the National Council for Education of the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) annual conference in early 2026. They will share all about the excitement they experienced through workshops, volunteering, and connecting with a community of other potters from all over the country. Come for the pottery knowledge, stay to learn which captain ran into a tree!
Who's playing
The speakers are shop captains from TinkerMill's pottery studio, Muddy Makers. Captains are member volunteers who run a shop, keep it stocked and safe, and teach classes. Several of the pottery captains are also instructors who lead the studio's certification, wheel and hand-building classes.
What to expect
A informal show-and-tell about the NCECA conference, told by people who went to learn and to volunteer. Expect stories about workshops, the people they met, and what they brought home to the studio. The event description also promises the tale of which captain ran into a tree.
Why go
It is a chance to hear what working potters took from a national conference without making the trip yourself. The setting helps. TinkerMill's pottery studio has wheels, a slab roller, and electric and Raku kilns, and it sits in a makerspace near the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. Anyone curious about clay will find the captains easy to talk to.
