Who's playing
Julie Benoit teaches the class. It is one of the museum's Art & Sip sessions, which are written for first-timers and also offer something new to people who already paint or craft.
What to expect
You start with watercolor: blending colors, building textures and trying out patterns on paper. Then you cut those painted sheets and weave them together into one piece you take home. Drinks and snacks are available to buy, so you can sip while you work. The Art & Sip classes run on Thursday nights from September through April at the Longmont Museum.
Why go
The class mixes two crafts, painting and paper weaving, so you finish with something made in two steps. It is a relaxed, hands-on evening out in Longmont, and you need no experience. The museum also hosts films, live music and conversations on other Thursday nights, so the building is worth getting to know.
