About this event
Discovery Days is an early childhood program for children ages 2 to 6 and their caregivers to have fun together with educational, hands-on art, music, and movement activities. When you attend Discovery Days with your child, you help them cultivate important school-readiness skills, such as language development, attention, concentration, fine motor skills, emotional regulation, and play and social abilities. Who's playing
Ms. Ragen leads the music and movement sessions in the museum's Classroom C. Discovery Days also has a separate art strand, taught by other instructors in a different classroom. Music & Movement is the one for children who would rather sing and move than sit at a craft table.
What to expect
Each session runs roughly 45 minutes to an hour, and adults take part alongside their kids. A new theme comes up each week, such as ocean animals, trains, robots or outer space. Attendance per session is capped, so the room stays small enough for little ones to feel comfortable.
Why go
The program is designed to build school-readiness skills through play: language, attention, fine motor skills, emotional regulation and getting along with other kids. Sessions run several times a day, so families can pick one that fits nap and school schedules. For a low-key morning with a preschooler in Longmont, it is a sensible choice.
