Lineup
- King Buffalo
About this event
King Buffalo is a heavy psychedelic rock trio from Rochester, New York. They play the Fox Theatre in Boulder with L.A. Witch on the bill. The Fox is a mid-size room on University Hill, close enough to the stage that the low end of a King Buffalo set is felt as much as heard.
Who's playing
King Buffalo formed in Rochester in 2013 and is made up of a guitarist-vocalist, a bassist and a drummer. They have released several EPs and full-length albums and have toured with Clutch, Elder, The Sword and All Them Witches. Their sound pairs big guitar riffs with spacey melodies, and they use vintage gear to get a thick fuzz tone. L.A. Witch joins them as the other act on the bill.
What to expect
Expect a loud, immersive rock show built on fuzzed-out bass, delay-heavy guitar and drumming that shifts time signatures. The band has described its sound as a warm fuzzy blanket in space. Their new album, Doomsayer, is their first since 2022, and new material may appear in the set. The Fox holds about 650 standing and has a full bar.
Why go
King Buffalo built its following through live shows, and a room this size suits that. The Fox Theatre is one of Boulder's best-known music rooms, within walking distance of the CU campus. If you like heavy psych and stoner rock, a bill like this does not come through town often.
