George Clanton w/ The Speeks
Saturday, October 31 at Fox Theatre & Cafe, Boulder
About this event
George Clanton plays the Fox Theatre & Cafe in Boulder with The Speeks in support. Clanton makes dreamy, synth-heavy pop that grew out of the vaporwave scene. The Fox is a small University Hill club with a full bar, so the show happens close to the stage.
Who's playing
George Clanton began in vaporwave under the name ESPRIT 空想 and later moved toward his own style of nostalgic synth-pop. He runs the 100% Electronica label and has released albums including Slide and Ooh Rap I Ya. The Speeks open the night.
What to expect
A standing club show built around glossy synths, big hooks and a hazy, retro mood. The Fox sits on University Hill and is known for hosting alt-leaning bands and DJs. It holds a few hundred people, so the crowd is close to the stage and the sound fills the room.
Why go
Clanton's following is devoted, and a room this size is a good way to hear his songs. The Fox is one of Boulder's best-known small music venues, and this bill suits it well.
