Jazz at the Julien

The series is produced by the Atom Jazz Network, which books a rotating lineup of Colorado players. Recent schedules have included the Atom Collective, the Adam Bodine Trio, the Alex Loran Trio, Soul Station, the Nice Work Quintet and the Bobby Weins Trio. The band changes from week to week, so the sound varies with the lineup.

The music runs for three hours in the hotel's lobby lounge, with walnut floors, mahogany pillars and a relaxed, dressy-casual feel. The Tots & Tinis menu features Jill's tots and $10 cocktails such as an espresso martini, gin or vodka martini, a Julien Old Fashioned and a Cosmopolitan. In warmer weather the terrace is an option, with views of the Flatirons.

This is a low-key way to hear working jazz musicians without a ticketed show or a late night. The lobby setting is comfortable for conversation, and it sits a short walk from Pearl Street. It suits a drink and a snack before dinner or a quiet midweek hang with friends.
