His rise as a DJ was boosted by the enormous backing he received from his friends and city. In the span of a year, Chase went from playing sushi restaurants and fraternity tailgates at the University of South Florida to 4 residencies at the biggest clubs in Tampa, FL. Chase your goals. Chase your dreams.
Who's playing
Jalal Harfouche, who performs as ChaseWest, was born in Beirut and moved to Westchase, Florida, as a refugee in 2006. The name comes from the community he grew up in. He went from sushi restaurants and fraternity tailgates at the University of South Florida to four residencies at big Tampa clubs in about a year. His music is minimal and tech house with heavy basslines and late-night grooves, and it has drawn support from Michael Bibi and Jamie Jones. He releases on his own Chaste Records label.
What to expect
A club-style night in a theater. Expect a set built on thumping basslines and long grooves, with TWO.S and Jules Oskar on the bill alongside him. Boulder Theater is an art deco room with colorful murals, a mezzanine and balcony bar, and a stage that holds roughly a thousand people. It is a concert hall more than a nightclub.
Why go
ChaseWest has a clear origin story, and his rise from small gigs to club residencies shapes the energy of his sets. Electronic acts of this kind play Boulder less often than rock and folk, and the 1930s theater on 14th Street makes a distinctive setting for it.
