About this event

Shine on Norlin is an ongoing event celebrating CU Boulder’s 150th anniversary with a large-scale light show projection on the west face of Norlin Library. Shine on Norlin is a canvas for the CU Boulder community to tell its stories. Through student artwork, historic imagery, video, music, research, innovation, performances, and creative storytelling, the installation highlights the people, moments, discoveries, and traditions that have shaped the university over the past 150 years while looking boldly toward its future. Projections light up Norlin Library nightly at dusk throughout October, from approximately 6:00–9:00 p.m.

What to expect

A projection-mapping show fills the library's west face with images, animation and music. The material covers student artwork, historic photos, research, innovation and campus traditions from CU's first 150 years, and it also looks ahead. The visuals come from WAVEFORM.exp, a Denver creative technology company that works on concerts, festivals and public installations. The show runs in the evenings, roughly 6 to 9 p.m.

Why go

Norlin Library opened in 1940 and was meant to be the largest library building between Chicago and the West Coast. Seeing its façade turned into a canvas for the campus's own stories is a good reason to walk across campus after dark. It is an easy outing for students, alumni, families and neighbors, and the show lasts through the month.
