About this event

Learn to play the ancient and mysterious board game known as Go. Developed 4000 years ago in China, the rules are so simple they can be taught in a few minutes--but it can take a lifetime to master the game. Go boards are provided and take-home sets made of cardboard are available for free. Meets every Sunday. Ages 5 and up.

What to expect

A relaxed games session where beginners are taught the basics of Go and then play. The library provides the boards. Cardboard take-home sets are available at no cost, so kids can keep practicing at home. The club meets weekly in the Children's Story Space, a part of the Main Library built for younger visitors.

Why go

Go is about 4,000 years old, and its rules are simple enough to pick up in one sitting. That makes it a good first strategy game for a curious kid or teen, with plenty of depth to grow into. The club meets every week, so there is always another chance to play and improve.
