About this event
Colorado Buffaloes women's volleyball hosts the Cincinnati Bearcats in a Big 12 conference match at the CU Events Center in Boulder. The Buffs play their home matches in the campus arena, where the volleyball program has played since 1988. Colorado has built its recent seasons around blocking at the net.
Who's playing
Colorado is coached by Jesse Mahoney and competes in the Big 12. This season the Buffs have led the conference in blocks per set, with middle blocker Cayla Payne among the league leaders. Cincinnati is in its second year under head coach Danijela Tomic. The Bearcats serve aggressively and have outside hitter Sydney Nolan and setter Kate Lijic among the conference's top producers.
What to expect
A Big 12 match played as a best-of-five, with rally scoring and a lot of back-and-forth at the net. The CU Events Center is a big arena, built for basketball and seating 11,064. It sits just north of the Kittredge student housing complex on the Boulder campus. Volleyball crowds fill part of the bowl, and the noise carries.
Why go
College volleyball in a major-conference arena is easy to follow and fun to watch live. The teams have met only a few times, so the matchup is still fairly new. For a weeknight in Boulder, it gives you a close look at how the Buffs work at the net.
