What to expect
There is no program to attend. Collection bins are set out around campus, and you drop off coats for adults or children whenever you pass one. Besides the UMC, bins are at the Recreation Center, the Engineering Center, Koelbel, JILA, the Biotechnology Building and the School of Education. Staff Council carries donated coats to Dependable Cleaners, the Coats for Colorado partner, as the drive goes on.
Why go
The drive is run by the Staff Council's Blood Drive and Community Service Committee, which also organizes campus blood drives and other collections. A previous coat drive gathered 220 coats that went out into the community. The UMC sits at Broadway and Euclid, so it is an easy stop for students, staff and neighbors who want to clear out a closet before winter.
