What to expect
A guide takes the group through the production facility and touches on ingredients, the brew house, yeast science and fermentation, and packaging. It finishes with the barrel-aging program and the pilot system. Three beer tasters are part of the hour. Space is limited, so groups stay small enough to ask questions.
Why go
Avery began in 1993 when founder Adam Avery gave up law school for brewing. Its current brewery opened in 2015 after 20 years in a small warehouse. The tour shows the working side of that story. Afterward you can stay at the taproom, which has more than 30 taps, a seasonal menu and a large dog-friendly beer garden. Tasters of flagship beers like White Rascal, a Belgian-style white ale, make a good lead-in.
