Who's playing

Sergei Govorov is a Yamaha Artist and educator who has played concerts and festivals across North America, Europe and China. His work spans classical, jazz, pop and folk. He created the Zlata Nova Ensemble, which has saxophone, two violins, cello, piano and cajón. His album Faith, for saxophone and organ, is one of his recordings.

What to expect

The set draws on The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Coldplay, Muse and others. The arrangements were written for this ensemble, so guitar solos are carried by the saxophone and the strings supply the rest. It sits between a rock show and a chamber concert. The Gordon Gamm is the Dairy's largest theater, with about 250 fixed seats and a proscenium stage, so the room stays fairly close.

Why go

Familiar songs in an unfamiliar setting are the draw here, and the instrumentation is the reason to hear it live. The Dairy is a long-running arts center at 26th and Walnut, with a cafe on site. It suits a listening-focused outing in Boulder.
