P.O.V is a variety show of movement-based physical theater and dance, staged in the round. It moves through short, self-contained pieces on contemporary politics, culture, and critique. Live at the perimeter, four visual artists render their personal read of the dance in front of them by hand - charcoal, paint, ink, sculpture - building work made to enter a permanent collection.By exposing the process of creation, P.O.V pulls the dancer, the visual artist, and the audience into the same grey area: a space void of a single fixed meaning, and full of the wonder of many. Every read of what's happening is valid and invalid at once. P.O.V doesn't resolve that tension. It's built on it.The performance closes into an exhibition of the work made live, available for purchase at the artists' discretion. What to expect
The show moves through short, self-contained pieces on contemporary politics, culture and critique. At the perimeter, artists work in charcoal, paint, ink and sculpture, each giving a personal read of the dance in front of them. The piece leaves its meanings open on purpose. It closes into an exhibition of the work made during the show, and the artists may offer pieces for purchase.
Why go
You watch a performance and the art it provokes being made at the same time, which is unusual. The B2 Black Box is a two-story studio with a sprung dance floor, spatial audio and projection. It is a good room to see experimental work on the Boulder campus. The piece is also part of Tank's residency at B2, which looks at how perception and truth are shaped by technology.
