Colorado Buffaloes Football vs. Kansas State Wildcats Football
Saturday, October 31 at Folsom Field Stadium, Boulder
Folsom Field Stadium
About this event
Colorado hosts Kansas State in a Big 12 football game at Folsom Field, the Buffaloes' home stadium on the CU campus in Boulder. Folsom opened in 1924 and sits on a hill with views of the Flatirons. Ralphie the buffalo leads the team onto the field before each half.
Who's playing
The Colorado Buffaloes are the home team, playing as members of the Big 12. Kansas State's Wildcats are a conference opponent who have beaten Colorado in their last few meetings. Both teams have quarterbacks who run as well as throw, so the offenses should be varied.
What to expect
Folsom is a U-shaped bowl that holds about 50,000, with the crowd close to the sidelines. The student section, the CUnit, sits on the east side and supplies much of the noise. The Golden Buffalo Marching Band plays before the game and at halftime. Ralphie's run, a live buffalo handled by CU students, has been a tradition since 1967.
Why go
Folsom is among the more scenic college football stadiums in the country, and the east-side seats look west toward the mountains. A conference game here gives you the full Boulder game-day setting: the band, the mascot Chip, and the buffalo run. It is a good way to see CU football in the stadium that has hosted it for a century.
