But what happens when we stop reading them and start questioning them? A Boulder-based interdisciplinary artist and Associate Professor at CU Boulder’s ATLAS Institute, Joel Swanson has built a creative practice around exploring the curious relationship between language, technology, and meaning. From neon sculptures and intricate works on paper to digital installations and large-scale public art, his work challenges the ways we communicate and the systems we often take for granted. With exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and internationally, Joel brings a playful yet thought-provoking perspective to the intersection of art, language, and technology. His work invites us to look beyond what words say and consider how they shape the way we see the world. Join us for an intimate conversation about the power of language, the art of questioning the familiar, and finding unexpected creativity in the everyday systems that surround us.
